Make it Mandatory: Join businesses around the world calling to make assessment and disclosure on nature mandatory

Our businesses. Our economies. Our societies. They all depend on nature. At the UN Biodiversity COP15 due to take place in Montreal in December, 196 governments will come together and deliver a new global agreement on nature.

This is our best chance to urgently put us on the path to halt and reverse nature loss by 2030.  We need governments globally to transform the rules of the economic game and require business to act now.  Countries are discussing the adoption of mandatory assessment and disclosure requirements on biodiversity for all large business and financial institutions by 2030. This is Target 15 of the Global Biodiversity Framework and it’s crucial that policymakers have the confidence to make this bold commitment.

A united voice business voice is therefore more important than ever.

Mandatory assessment and disclosure will create fair competition for business, increase accountability, engage investors, empower consumers, involve SMEs through supply chains, help ensure the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities and ultimately accelerate the transformation of our economies.

Sign up to the COP15 business statement on mandatory assessment and disclosure by 18 October and join companies and financial institutions from across the globe who are calling on Heads of State to ‘Make It Mandatory’ to assess and disclose impacts and dependencies on nature by 2030.  The statement is available in 中文, Bahasa Indonesia, Français and Español.
