Business for Nature is hiring an Operations Lead
We are looking for an experienced Operations Lead to join our international team and help grow Business for Nature’s impact. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multi-stakeholder team, and through this role you will be directly exposed to the decision-making process and strategy of the organization.
Working alongside Business for Nature’s Operations Director, this is a hands-on role for a strategic thinker and planner with strong operational experience and fundraising skills with an eye for detail and the ability to understand what it takes to turn vision into action.
We work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. You need to be comfortable working autonomously, with the ability to lead projects from inception to completion. As a member of a small team operating across the world, you should feel comfortable working virtually.

Location: We are a virtual team so you can be based anywhere providing you have the right to work there. You will need to travel occasionally
Position: Full-time (part-time arrangements also negotiable)

Salary range: $US35,000 – $US60,000, depending on location, for full-time position
This is a good-faith range based on a full-time (40 hour/week) employment contract. Salary may vary based on number of hours worked, local market and experience. The range listed is one component of the total compensation package for employees.

The Operations Lead will fulfill the following functions:
Manage Business for Nature’s day-to-day operations
In collaboration with the Operations Director, work to implement and further improve BfN’s operations (including processes, guidance and team collaboration/engagement).
Maintain relevant policies and procedures in close co-operation with our legal host to ensure fair and consistent management of employees. Capture lessons learned and suggest improvements.
Own technical reporting for Business for Nature. Coordinate the production of technical reports with the team and ensure all funders’ requirements are met to the highest standards.
Ensure contractual compliance with our legal host and support the team in producing high quality agreements.
Own invoicing for all BfN’s utilities and funding income.
Act as operations entry point for the team, answering questions and providing support as needed.
Ensure the team is properly taken care of, owning the on/offboarding of employees, welcome/farewell parties, team parties, annual contentment survey, etc.; and informed (e.g. changes in legal host’s policies). Help improve processes.
Set up and coordinate the annual Operations Calendar.
Support the Operations Director in ensuring ICT and team collaboration tools for the team work and are fit for purpose.
Maintain all Operations and Human Resources documents up to date.
Manage the contact inbox and act as an entry point for all BfN exchanges across the whole team.
Support Business for Nature’s fundraising efforts
Coordinate the production of technical proposals and improve existing processes (creation of proposal template, proposal development processes, timelines, etc.).
Seek new sources of funding, assessing the risk and benefits of different funding opportunities.
Qualifications, skills and experience
Required:
At least 5 years’ experience in operations.
Strong organizational, project and time management skills including a capacity to track details and manage multiple priorities and deadlines with high attention to detail.
Experience of writing technical proposals for fundraising and reporting.
Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
Excellent communication, networking and relationship building skills with an ability to influence and inspire and collaborate with others.
A passion or interest in sustainable development and a belief that business can be a force for good.
Highly motivated and proactive to lead and see-through projects from inception to completion, while bringing team members with them.
Excellent English written and oral skills particularly to convey complex ideas and thoughts for a broad audience in a compelling and concise way. Other languages such as Spanish are a bonus.
Beneficial but not essential:
Experience working with and engaging business, finance and public stakeholders on environmental issues.
Knowledge of business and sustainability, environmental and/or social issues.
