We are looking for a Communications Manager to join our impactful international team and help grow Business for Nature’s impact now and in the future.
To be successful, you will have strong writing and media relations experience, with the ability to build relationships with journalists. Existing relationships with environmental journalists would be a plus. As well as thinking strategically and writing in a compelling way, we are looking for someone who is passionate about sustainability and environmental issues with an understanding of the shifting news landscape in order to reach a broad and international audience.
We work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment. You need to be comfortable working autonomously, with the ability to lead projects from inception to completion. As a small team operating across the world, you should feel comfortable working virtually.
Title: Communications Manager
Reports to: Communications Director, Business for Nature coalition
Term: Permanent position, ideally starting January 2023
Location: Anywhere providing you have the right to work. International travel occasionally necessary.
Position: Full or part-time negotiable.
Salary range: USD $45,000 – $65,000 (full time)

The Communications Manager will:
Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists to update them on key pieces of work and the changing nature policy landscape
Draft, edit, enhance and manage content for Business for Nature including op-eds, reports, website copy, speeches and remarks, briefings, case studies, regular partner news updates and other written materials, including materials for businesses
Develop and maintain key talking points for Business for Nature, our coalition partners and the progressive companies we work with to use at events and with journalists and policy makers
Manage and help grow Business for Nature’s online presence with our digital agency, sharing content to inform the editorial calendar, proactively planning new content and supporting our digital presence during key campaign moments
Work with third parties to develop design and develop content and reports to be shared externally
Manage and update the Business for Nature website
Help with the development of content on Business for Nature’s website – writing news articles, updating and editing pages and working with our digital agency to make more extensive changes
Contribute to the development and delivery of global campaigns and Business for Nature’s communications plan
Attend relevant meetings, events and conferences where appropriate
Qualifications, skills and experience:
A degree in communication, political sciences, environmental management, economics, sustainable development, or any other relevant field
5-10 years’ experience working in media and communications is essential
Outstanding English written and oral communications skills particularly to convey complex ideas, thoughts and concepts for a general audience in a compelling and concise way
Existing relationships with environmental journalists would be beneficial but not essential
Strong organizational and time management skills including a capacity to track details
Experience of delivering events, projects and campaigns with successful media and communication outcomes
Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
Experience in hosting and moderating webinars
Experience using Zoho and SquareSpace would be beneficial but is not required

This salary range outlined above is a good faith range based on a full-time (40 hour/week) employment contract. Salary may vary based on amount of hours worked.
