We want to hear from you! Contribute to our business consultation on nature policies

What public policies, legislation and regulations would create an enabling policy environment and help your business accelerate action on nature?

In November 2023, Business for Nature launched the joint global campaign ‘It’s Now for Nature’ to rally businesses and financial institutions to develop nature strategies. As outlined in the Nature Strategy Handbook, a credible nature strategy should focus on advocacy and responsible policy engagement. Businesses cannot address the challenge of nature and biodiversity loss in isolation and voluntary business action is not enough. Political leadership and transformative policies are needed to change the rules of the game, level the playing field and spur more business action.

It is in the interest of all businesses to shift towards models that restore nature rather than destroy it. But businesses can’t do it alone, and we need governments to provide the right incentives to accelerate and scale corporate nature action. We urge all businesses, and organizations that work with businesses, to share their views through our consultation on nature policies and help shape the policy agenda in a way that is grounded in real business action and is ambitious enough to implement the goals and targets of the Global Biodiversity Framework, namely to reach a nature-positive economy for all by 2030.
— Eva Zabey, CEO of Business for Nature

Business for Nature is currently drafting recommendations asking governments to adopt specific policies, legislation and regulations needed to ensure the effective implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) and put nature at the heart of the global economy.

As we want these recommendations to reflect the views of businesses, we are opening for consultation an extensive list of draft policy asks and are inviting businesses and business organizations to share their views with us.
